Xsane works well enough once you figure out the interface. Whatever you do, don’t accidentally mess the colour settings up ;-). Here is a tentative set of instructions for mass scanning of photos my mother put together using Xsane on Intrepid. I’ll expand upon them later from a machine with a scanner on it:<\/p>\n
Applications>Graphics>X-Sane
\nChoose appropriate scanner<\/p>\n
Within X-Sane, Preferences
\nWindow – Show Preview
\nViewer – change to SAVE if doing multiple
\nChoose folder for saving to
\nChoose TIFF
\nChoose COLOR or GREY
\nChoose 300 for Dots per inch<\/p>\n
SCAN<\/p>\n
PREVIEW
\nAcquire preview then crop<\/p>\n
PREFERENCES Name file in folder
